About the Workshop

Knox Theatre Drama Workshop was first established in 1985 to provide a training and development programme for Knox Theatre Company. After receiving numerous phone calls from people asking how, without training or experience, they or their children could become involved in local theatre, it became apparent to the directors of KTC that such a programme was not only in demand but necessary for the local community.

Since 1985 students of all ages have participated in what has turned out to be a very popular and successful programme. Many have progress to perform on stage with various theatre groups, and several have appeared in both film and television. However, our main objective is to build confidence, improve communication skills and encourage the creative abilities of our students while they are learning stagecraft, developing acting skills, meeting new people and having fun.

Workshop sessions – developed and conducted by Mark Hardy, a well known and highly regarded actor and director with many years experience in local theatre – have produced excellent results and gained extensive commendation from all involved.

Benefits

Whilst using the creativity of theatrical expertise as a teaching medium, the workshop will be of benefit in all aspects of life. As well as providing students with a programme designed to increase confidence, communication and creative abilities, it also teaches students valuable life skills which, in today’s highly competitive society, are essential.
